Invoice2go

Can a mobile invoicing app for micro-businesses become the financial operating system — payments, banking, and capital — for the long tail of one- and two-person service businesses?

The story

Invoice2go began as a mobile invoicing app for freelancers and micro-businesses. Over time it expanded beyond invoicing to embedded financial services — first through a 2019 partnership with Square Capital to offer in-app small business loans, and then by launching Invoice2go Money Banking (built on Unit's BaaS infrastructure and Plaid's bank-linking rails) to enable bank-transfer payments and offer a fuller financial product suite. The sunset of Stripe ACH in 2025 in favor of its own Money Banking product signals a deliberate move toward owning the payment and banking experience rather than relying on third-party PSPs.
