“Can a vertical-first, acquisition-built cloud ERP suite become the third serious enterprise-software platform alongside SAP and Oracle by owning industry-specific workflows on AWS?”
Founded 2002 as Agilisys spinning process-manufacturing ERP out of SCT Corp, Infor grew primarily through acquisitions of vertical ERP assets (backed by Golden Gate Capital and Summit Partners) and rebranded as Infor after acquiring Infor Business Solutions AG in 2004. Koch Industries became progressively larger investor from 2017 onward and acquired the company outright in 2020 for ~$13B, taking Infor private and scrapping IPO plans. Modern Infor is a vertical-focused cloud ERP suite (CloudSuite) on AWS, competing with SAP and Oracle by leaning on industry-specific applications rather than horizontal breadth.
