The story

Founded in 2013 as a patient-facing appointment booking platform, Doctolib rapidly became France's dominant healthcare scheduling tool before expanding to Germany and Italy. During COVID-19 it added teleconsultation and introduced its first payment capability. In late 2024, Doctolib formalized its embedded finance ambition by partnering with Adyen to deliver payment processing and broader financial services to medical professionals, using Adyen's banking licence as the infrastructure layer. By 2025, Doctolib was pivoting from pure scheduling into full vertical SaaS — launching practice management software in Germany and positioning itself as the financial and operational OS for European healthcare professionals.
