The story

Founded in 1985 as a UK comedy-driven telethon charity, Comic Relief grew into one of the UK's largest annual fundraising events via Red Nose Day. In 2015 it expanded to the US through an independent sister entity (Comic Relief Inc., formerly America Gives Back), replicating the NBC Red Nose Day model. The organisation has progressively digitised its donation infrastructure — accepting online donations, carrier billing, and peer-to-peer fundraising — making embedded payments a critical operational layer rather than a strategic product.
