The story

Originally a consumer-credit specialist operating under GE Money Bank, Cembra went public in 2013 following GE Capital's divestiture. The bank subsequently pivoted from a pure-lending model toward a broader consumer finance platform, adding credit cards, auto finance, and embedded BNPL. The 2023 creation of CembraPay — merging Swissbilling and Byjuno — marked a deliberate move into merchant-facing embedded payments and Buy Now Pay Later, positioning Cembra as Switzerland's leading invoice-payment and BNPL infrastructure provider alongside its traditional retail banking business.
