The story

Originally launched as Nordic API Gateway, Aiia built one of the leading open banking aggregation platforms in the Nordics, offering both account information services (AIS) and payment initiation services (PIS) under PSD2. The company rebranded to Aiia in 2021 and was subsequently acquired by Mastercard, becoming the backbone of Mastercard's European open banking platform. Post-acquisition, Aiia expanded its value proposition beyond Nordic bank connectivity to serve as a white-label open banking infrastructure provider for fintechs, payment companies, and merchants seeking seamless bank data and payment rails across Europe.
