UBS is one of the world's oldest and largest financial institutions, headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland, offering wealth management, investment banking, asset management, and retail/commercial banking globally. The 1998 merger that created UBS established it as a global powerhouse in private banking and wealth management. Following the 2023 emergency acquisition of Credit Suisse, UBS became the undisputed dominant Swiss bank and significantly expanded its global wealth management footprint. The bank has increasingly invested in digital banking infrastructure (UBS key4 business for SMEs), embedded finance partnerships (Human Interest for 401(k)s, iProov for identity), and open banking API exposure under PSD2 and SIX-B-LINK standards.
