The story

Yape began in 2017 as a P2P mobile payments wallet inside Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP), Peru's largest bank. It has evolved from a free transfer app into a super-app — adding consumer and SMB lending (Crédito Yape up to S/60,000 for businesses), bill pay, mobile top-ups, an in-app marketplace (Yape Tienda), inbound remittances, SOAT auto insurance, and embedded health insurance via Pacífico. With 19M+ users in Peru, Yape is now exporting the model into Bolivia in 2026, targeting micro-merchants with localized financial services.
