The story

Swoop was founded in 2018 by Andrea Reynolds (ex-KPMG) as a UK SME funding marketplace — a 'virtual CFO' that matches small businesses to loans, grants and equity. It has since extended into a multi-country broker (UK, US, Canada, AU, IE, NA) covering both funding origination and cost-savings comparison (banking, FX, utilities). Swoop is explicitly a broker / matching platform — not a lender or licensed deposit-taker — and monetises via commission from partner lenders, investors and service providers. The strategic question is whether a regulated funding marketplace can become the default front-end for SME finance globally.
