The story

SnapScan launched in 2013 as a QR-code mobile payment app in South Africa, built on top of Standard Bank's payment and licensing infrastructure. It has since grown into one of the country's largest QR merchant networks (60,000+ merchants) and expanded beyond face-to-face QR into payment links, e-commerce plugins (WooCommerce, Magento, Shopify partial, OpenCart, PayGate), and the SnapScan Wallet — a Standard Bank-backed virtual account used to send, store and spend money. SnapScan functions as Standard Bank's consumer/merchant QR brand rather than as an independent licensed institution.
