“Can a Piraeus-backed, fully-licensed Greek neobank convert the domestic market to a mobile-first bank before European challengers do?”
Snappi was incubated inside Piraeus Bank as a joint venture with Greek core-banking vendor Natech and its partner Neptune International, targeting the Greek market with a fully-licensed neobank rather than a BaaS wrapper. It secured its own ECB universal banking licence in 2024 and launched to the public in September 2025, positioning itself as a licensed challenger with Greek IBANs, IRIS instant payments and a human-staffed support model. In 2026 it kicked into a scaling phase, layering AI-powered savings and BNPL merchant products on top of Natech's core, with Paymentology as its card issuer-processor.
