Smartbooks was founded by EPM and controlling veterans (65+ years combined experience across Akzo Nobel, Philips, KPN, KLM) to bring enterprise-grade consolidation, planning and reporting to Dutch mid-market SMBs. It sits as a reporting/consolidation layer on top of Dutch accounting packages (Exact, Twinfield, AFAS, Odoo) and is evolving into 'the financial data infrastructure that AI and controllers trust' — with Alex, its AI controller, as the front door.
