Sertrading

“Can a legacy Brazilian trading company become the digital operating system for Latin American cross-border trade under BTG Pactual's banking umbrella?”

The story

Sertrading is a 25+ year old Brazilian foreign trade / import services company (trading company), not a fintech. It operates an indirect-import BPO model (import-by-order, import-on-behalf) for aircraft, autos, pharma, machinery and other segments, and has developed a proprietary SaaS platform 'Vista' for real-time import operation visibility. In 2024 it was acquired by BTG Pactual, giving it a bank parent — which explains why its 'financial structuring' offering focuses on optimizing bank lines and payment flows rather than issuing embedded finance products. Two spin-out startups (an import/export financing platform and a digital foreign trade collaboration platform) were incubated from Sertrading's B2B payments and foreign trade experience.
