The story

Founded in 2016 as a veterinary-care financing platform inspired by a co-founder's personal experience with unaffordable pet bills, Scratchpay initially focused purely on consumer payment plans (buy-now-pay-later style) for vet visits, with loans issued through banking partner WebBank. After its Series B in 2021 the company attempted a broader healthcare expansion into dental and other medical verticals, but by 2025 had returned focus to veterinary. In parallel, the company evolved from a pure lending intermediary into a full payment-processing platform with the launch of Scratch Checkout, becoming the financial operating system for veterinary practices by combining card acquiring, recurring payments, PIMS integrations, and financing in one product.
