“Can a digital-native Nordic broker become the financial OS for retail savings, investments, and credit across the Nordics and beyond?”
Founded in 1996 as a Swedish online stockbroker, Nordnet expanded across the Nordics (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland) and evolved from a pure discount brokerage into a fully licensed digital bank specialising in savings and investments. The company added pension and life insurance products in the mid-2000s following Swedish regulatory changes, becoming one of the first digital-native actors in Nordic retail savings. By the 2020s, Nordnet operates as a regulated bank holding company with SEK 1.2 trillion in savings capital, a lending book of SEK 29.8 billion, and is actively expanding into Germany.
