The story

Moneybird started as online accounting software for Dutch SMEs and freelancers, covering invoicing, VAT returns, and bookkeeping. Around 2022 it expanded beyond pure accounting by integrating Adyen's embedded finance stack — including card issuing and corporate business accounts — moving toward becoming a financial operating system for small entrepreneurs. The Adyen integration marked a strategic pivot from passive record-keeping to active embedded financial services.
