The story

Founded 2017-2018 as a direct-to-consumer digital mortgage lender, positioning itself as the UK's first fully digital mortgage brand. After struggling to reach scale on venture capital alone, Molo pivoted in 2022 into a strategic partnership with Australian non-bank lender ColCap, and by 2024 had been fully absorbed as a wholly-owned subsidiary of ColCap Financial UK. Today Molo is primarily an intermediary-distributed buy-to-let and expat mortgage originator with a securitisation funding model (Molossus BTL 2024-1), and it has begun licensing its origination stack as 'mortgage-as-a-service' to a UK bank.
