The story

Mama Money started as a low-cost cross-border remittance operator sending money from South Africa to 70+ countries across Africa, Asia and Europe. In 2024 it expanded beyond pure remittance into embedded banking by launching the WhatsApp-accessible Mama Money Card and account, issued in partnership with Access Bank and processed by Paymentology. By late 2025 it was repositioning the card+account as a B2B payroll solution for employers of foreign nationals in South Africa, with Bank Zero announced as a second sponsor bank.
