The story

Malt launched as a European freelance marketplace connecting independent professionals with businesses, built around end-to-end project management including automated invoicing, payments, and compliance. The company embedded financial services—escrow payments via MangoPay, early payment (factoring/cash advance) via Defacto, and professional liability insurance via Hiscox—directly into its platform to reduce friction for both freelancers and enterprise clients. Its evolution has been toward a full Freelance Management System (FMS) with a tiered pricing model, expanding from France across Europe and into the Middle East.
