Loctax was founded in 2020 by four Belgian founders as a collaborative operating system for in-house tax teams at multinationals — replacing spreadsheets and email chains used to coordinate tax obligations across 15-40 countries. After a $12M Series A led by Index Ventures in 2021, the company deepened its content moat via a deep IBFD integration (2024) and pivoted the product from a workflow tool into an AI-first 'Global Tax Intelligence Platform' with an AI Assistant grounded in IBFD content across 220+ jurisdictions. In 2025 Loctax was acquired by Tax Systems to combine its AI control centre with Tax Systems' compliance engines (Pillar 2, transfer pricing, corporate tax, VAT).
