“Can a crowdsourced, verified compensation database become the pay-transparency operating system for both job seekers and employers globally?”
Levels.fyi began in 2017 as a side project comparing engineering levels at Big Tech, then evolved into a crowdsourced compensation database backed by verified offer letters and W2s. It has since expanded into candidate services (negotiation coaching, resume review), employer products (Interactive Offers, Talent Pool, Compensation Benchmarking), and international coverage via the 2024 TechPays acquisition. The company remains small (~23 employees) and is not an embedded-finance operator — it is a data/marketplace SaaS business.
