“Can embedded B2B trade credit become a default checkout option for UK SME commerce, now backed by a chartered bank's deposits?”
Founded 2011 as MarketInvoice, an online invoice-discounting marketplace for UK SMEs. Rebranded to MarketFinance (2019) as it broadened from invoice finance into business loans, then to Kriya (2022) on the launch of its B2B BNPL/PayLater product — explicitly repositioning as an embedded credit infrastructure player serving marketplaces and merchants. A 2024 integration with Stripe made Kriya a checkout-native trade-credit option. In October 2025 Allica Bank acquired Kriya outright, giving the lending engine a UK digital business bank's deposit base and signaling consolidation of embedded SME credit into chartered-bank balance sheets.
