“Can a Mexican SMB lender evolve into the full financial operating system — credit, cards, acquiring, and deposits — for the country's underbanked small businesses?”
Konfío launched in 2013 as a data-driven SMB lender in Mexico, addressing the chronic underbanking of small businesses. Through the Sr. Pago acquisition (Cobra Online) it expanded beyond credit into card acquiring and corporate cards (Konfío Pay terminals, Tarjeta Empresarial VISA, Konfío Pay payment links). In 2023 it filed for a Mexican bank charter to add deposit-taking and become a full financial OS for SMBs, signaling a move from monoline lender to SMB neobank.
