Humm Group

Can a legacy ANZ BNPL/leasing group remain relevant as regulators force BNPL into the regulated consumer-credit perimeter?

The story

Originally Flexigroup, rebranded as hummgroup to position as a diversified non-bank financial services institution across Australia, NZ, Ireland and UK. Operates BNPL/point-of-sale finance (humm), credit cards (humm90, Q Mastercard) and commercial leasing/SME lending (flexicommercial). In June 2025 Humm overhauled its Australian consumer business by launching a regulated POS loan product in response to new BNPL legislation, retiring the classic humm product — a forced regulatory pivot rather than a strategic one.
