“Can a Word-native, DMS-connected clause library become the default drafting layer for global law firms — now as part of LexisNexis?”
Henchman was founded in 2020/2021 in Ghent, Belgium as a Microsoft Word add-in for contract drafting — surfacing law firms' previously written clauses from their DMS (iManage, NetDocuments, SharePoint, Google Drive, OneDrive, OpenText eDocs) inside Word. After a seed (2022) and Series A (2023), the company was acquired by LexisNexis in 2024 and rebranded to Lexis® Create+, integrating LexisNexis content and the Protégé generative AI assistant. It is a pure legal-tech SaaS play with no embedded finance surface area.
