Founded in 1990 as the Amsterdam-based international arm of Turkey's Garanti Bank, GBI initially focused on trade finance and commodity finance for Turkish and global corporates. Following BBVA's full acquisition of Garanti in 2021, the bank rebranded and accelerated technology modernization, selecting Temenos Banking Cloud for its retail operations.
