The story

Founded in 2001 as a cloud-based accounting and invoicing platform for Swedish SMEs, Fortnox grew into the dominant bookkeeping platform in Sweden serving over 700,000 businesses. From the mid-2010s onward, Fortnox layered embedded financial services on top of its core software—first invoice factoring and lending through Fortnox Finans AB (a licensed payment institution), then a Visa business credit card built with Mynt in 2023. The platform now operates as an 'all-in-one' financial OS for Swedish micro and small businesses, combining accounting, payroll, invoicing, and embedded finance in a single cloud-native product.
