eTranzact PLC

Can a pan-African switch and payment processor stay relevant as fintech startups own the consumer layer above it?

The story

eTranzact launched in 2003 as one of Nigeria's earliest electronic transaction switches, then extended horizontally across payments channels (POS, web, mobile, ATM, USSD, chatbot) and geographically across seven African markets plus the UK. Public-listed on the NGX, it operates as a multi-channel payment facilitator serving both consumers (BankIT, PocketMoni, WebConnect, PayOutlet) and corporates (CorporatePay bulk disbursement, agency banking, Fundgate, USSD services). Recent expansion has focused on new markets like Uganda and embedded insurance distribution (NISMART), positioning eTranzact as an infrastructure switch rather than a consumer neobank.
