The story

EE was founded in 2012 as the UK's first 4G carrier, created from the merger of Orange UK and T-Mobile UK under Deutsche Telekom and Orange S.A. After rapid subscriber growth, BT Group acquired EE in 2016 for ~£12.5B, making it BT's consumer-facing mobile brand. Under BT ownership, EE has expanded from pure mobile connectivity into device insurance, business solutions, and embedded financial services including card issuing via Edenred Payment Solutions, positioning itself as a consumer and business services brand that bundles financial products alongside connectivity.
