“Can eFinance extend its monopoly position as Egypt's government payments processor into a full-stack digital infrastructure and financial services platform serving both public and private sectors across Africa?”
Founded in 2005 as Egypt's sole government-mandated digital payments processor, eFinance built and operates the Egyptian Government Financial Network (GFN), which processes ~500 million annual transactions worth ~EGP 1.6 trillion. Over time it expanded from pure payment processing into cloud infrastructure (eFinance Cloud), e-services, and health payment platforms (UHIA), positioning itself as the integrated digital transformation partner of the Egyptian state. In 2021 it restructured under the eFinance Investment Group holding company and listed on the stock exchange, broadening its mandate beyond government payments toward financial inclusion and B2B digital services for the wider Egyptian economy.
