“Can a BANK OF AFRICA-owned proximity payment institution become Morocco's leading inclusive financial services network by layering mobile wallets, insurance, and merchant acquiring onto its cash-transfer agent footprint?”
Founded in 2007 as a cash-focused money transfer agent, Damane Cash was acquired by BANK OF AFRICA–BMCE Group in 2014 and underwent a full institutional overhaul. It obtained a formal Bank Al-Maghrib payment institution licence in 2019, enabling it to issue mobile payment accounts (Damane Pay M-Wallet) and bill-payment services. By 2024–2025 it had layered in inclusive insurance (TAAMINATE DAMANE via RMA), a partnership with Orange Money for financial inclusion, and launched a full merchant card-acquiring business—transforming from a cash remittance counter into a multi-product, digital-first proximity financial services network.
