The story

Crunch launched in 2009 as a hybrid model — accounting SaaS plus human ACCA-regulated accountants — for UK sole traders and limited companies. Over the past few years the company has rebuilt onto a microservices/Kubernetes stack, opened a developer portal with OAuth 2.0 APIs, and layered embedded finance into the product: free Open Banking bank feeds (via TrueLayer), CrunchPay for invoice acceptance (via Unipaas), and referral partnerships with Zempler for business bank accounts. The strategic direction is to become the operating system for UK micro-businesses under MTD ITSA rather than just a compliance filer.
