“Can a broker-model financing marketplace remain the default digital front door for German Mittelstand financing as banks build their own direct SME digital channels?”
Compeon launched in 2013 in Düsseldorf as a digital marketplace connecting German SMEs to a growing panel of banks and specialist financiers for term loans, leasing, factoring and working-capital lines. It doubled revenue year-on-year through the late 2010s, taking Tengelmann Ventures investment in 2018 and raising a €15M Series C in 2021 from Iris Capital, NRW.BANK and Qatar Development Bank. The company has since scaled to ~300 financing partners and ~50,000 SME customers, and in 2026 is rebranding to Fynbiz.
