“Can Berlin's public transit authority become the mobility OS for the city by embedding payments, identity, and budgeting into a single MaaS super-app?”
Founded in 2019 as an initiative of BVG, Berlin's public transit authority, Jelbi evolved from a public-transport ticketing extension into a full Mobility-as-a-Service super-app aggregating transit, carsharing, bikesharing, e-scooters, and taxis. The platform migrated its payment infrastructure progressively from LogPay to Adyen, reflecting a shift toward a more scalable embedded payments architecture. In 2025 it launched a B2B 'Mobilitätsbudget' product targeting employers, adding an enterprise distribution channel to its consumer MaaS offering.
