The story

Buildium was founded in 2004 as property management SaaS for landlords and community associations, bootstrapped to 6,000 customers before raising private equity in 2012. Its embedded finance layer grew from ACH rent collection (via Forte Payment Systems) into a full ePay platform with EFT + credit card acceptance. Acquired by RealPage in 2019, Buildium has since layered on tenant screening (TransUnion), 1099 e-filing (Nelco), renters insurance (MSI), retail cash payments (PayNearMe), and — most recently — its own branded Expense Management product with business credit cards and bill pay, moving deeper into spend management for property managers.
