The story

Founded in 2020 as a prepaid corporate card and expense management platform for Australian SMEs, Budgetly initially partnered with Nium for card issuance-as-a-service. By early 2026, the company executed a significant infrastructure migration: adopting Shaype as its payments infrastructure provider and Hay Limited as the regulated card/account issuer, enabling multi-wallet architecture and physical/virtual Visa Business Debit cards. The company has since added AI bookkeeping to automate accounting workflows, positioning itself as a full-stack SME spend management OS rather than just a prepaid card product.
