The story

Founded in 1996 as CompuCredit Holdings, Atlanticus built its business as a credit-card servicer for non-prime consumers. After rebranding in 2014, the company repositioned itself as a financial technology platform enabling banks — primarily The Bank of Missouri and WebBank — to offer credit cards, retail credit, patient financing, and auto finance to underserved Americans. In 2022, Atlanticus moved beyond credit into debit banking with the Aspire Banking Platform, targeting the unbanked and underbanked population with a clear path to credit access. The 2024 Synchrony partnership cemented Atlanticus as the dominant second-look lender behind prime-first programs.
