“Can Allegro become the financial operating system — credit, payments, and banking — for Central European e-commerce buyers and sellers?”
Allegro began as Poland's eBay-equivalent marketplace and has steadily pivoted into an embedded finance powerhouse for Central Europe. After its 2020 IPO it launched Allegro Pay (consumer BNPL) and scaled it into a bank-sized lender — funding 15%+ of GMV. In 2024–2025 it stacked merchant-side credit (Allegro Merchant Finance / Allegro Kapitał) and an A2A payments + merchant-lending JV with PKO Bank Polski, positioning itself as the financial infrastructure layer of Polish e-commerce rather than just a transaction venue.
