“Can a legacy, highly-flexible Swedish payroll engine remain the default private-sector payroll system as Visma consolidates its HRM brands?”
Agda PS began in 1981-82 as 'the little payroll system' commissioned by SAF's General Group and the Danish Employers' Association — the name itself is a mash-up of 'ag' from Allmänna Gruppen and 'DA' from Dansk Arbejdsgiverforening. Development of the modern Agda PS platform started in 1995 with the first customer going live in 1998. Today Agda PS is owned by Visma HRM Sverige AB and run alongside sister brands Kontek and Lönelys, targeting Swedish private-sector companies with 50+ employees. One in four privately employed Swedes receives their salary through Agda PS, making it one of the most-used payroll systems in Sweden's private sector.
Agda PS uses BankID for KYC and identity verification.
Agda PS uses Autopay for FX and cross-border payouts.
Agda PS's payroll is powered by Agda PS (in-house).
The Embedded Finance Index 2026 maps 4 layers in Agda PS's stack: Payroll (Agda PS (in-house)); KYC (BankID); FX & payouts (Autopay); Spend / AP (Visma.net Expense).
Agda PS was founded by Sture Karlander and is founded in 1982, headquartered in Ljungby, Sweden.
