The story

Zimpler launched as a Pay by Bank and open-banking-based payment service provider in Sweden, leveraging its Finansinspektionen authorisation to offer Payment Initiation Services (PIS) and Account Information Services (AIS). It expanded its product suite beyond simple deposits to include a full-stack Zimpler Go solution combining registration, KYC, login, and deposit in a single closed loop. The company internationalised by entering Brazil with a PIX-based product under a local payment institution licence. In October 2025, TrueLayer announced its acquisition of Zimpler, signalling consolidation in the European Pay by Bank space.
