Veloretti

Can a DTC bicycle brand embed enough financial services (insurance, leasing, payments) at checkout to move premium e-bikes at scale without a retail footprint?

The story

Founded in 2012 as a direct-to-consumer city bike brand in Amsterdam, Veloretti built its brand around minimalist, retro-style bicycles sold entirely online. The company pivoted meaningfully upmarket with its 2021 electric bike launch, which prompted the addition of embedded financial services — insurance via Qover, bike leasing via a Dutch lease scheme partner, and payments via Mollie — to reduce friction and reassure buyers of higher-priced products. Veloretti B.V. is a subsidiary of Pon Holdings B.V., the large Dutch mobility conglomerate.
