The story

Founded in 2004 as a Malta-based sports betting operator, Tipico grew into Germany's premier betting brand via a franchise network of 1,250+ physical shops alongside a digital platform. CVC's 2016 investment fueled digital expansion and international growth, including a US market entry via New Jersey. The US sportsbook was ultimately divested to LeoVegas in 2024, refocusing the company on its core European markets. The 2025 sale to French media group Banijay signals a new strategic phase, embedding Tipico within a larger media and entertainment ecosystem.
