The story

Founded in 2016 as a Rabobank startup, SurePay launched the IBAN-Name Check to address misdirected payments and fraud in the Dutch banking ecosystem. Over the following years it expanded from a Dutch domestic utility to a pan-European and UK verification infrastructure layer, rebranding its product as Verification of Payee (VoP) and Confirmation of Payee (CoP). By 2026 SurePay had connected more than 5,000 banks and financial institutions, processing over 12 billion verification checks, and positioned itself as the de facto account verification standard for banks, PSPs, and corporates across the EU and UK.
