The story

Sempli was founded in 2017 in Medellín as a digital working-capital lender for Colombian SMEs underserved by traditional banks, using a proprietary risk model ('SempliScore') over 300+ variables. The 2022 round signaled an ambition to evolve from a single-product term lender into a broader embedded-finance platform for SMEs, with planned insurance, credit cards, payments and advisory products. In practice the company has remained primarily a balance-sheet lender, expanding its loan catalog in 2024–25 with Crédito Flexi (short-term bullet) and Crédito Vehículos rather than launching banking or card products at scale.
