Founded in 2022 as Cottage Energy, Inc., Public Grid built a renewable-energy bill savings platform for US renters and businesses, initially relying on a bare Postgres database for billing. After four years on that minimal stack, the team recognized they needed a proper financial ledger to support balances, credits, and adjustments — and rebuilt their financial backbone in 2025 using Blnk Finance's open-source ledger infrastructure. The company remains small (3 employees) and venture-backed at seed stage, focused on community solar and electricity plan savings.
