The story

Founded in 2015 as Turkcell's internal digital payment arm, Paycell initially focused on Turkish mobile payment and e-money services. By 2022, it pivoted toward international expansion, launching Paycell Europe in Stuttgart to offer cross-border remittances to the Turkish diaspora in the EU and UK, leveraging PayTop SAS as its authorized payment establishment partner. The partnership with Nium in December 2022 marked a shift toward using global rail providers to underpin its cross-border money transfer infrastructure, moving Paycell from a purely domestic telco-payments play toward a multi-region embedded finance platform.
