The story

Founded in 2014 as a mission-driven lender targeting international and DACA students who lack U.S. credit history or a cosigner, MPOWER built its underwriting around students' future earning potential. The company expanded from a handful of partner universities to 350+ eligible institutions across the U.S. and Canada. By 2024–2025, MPOWER matured into a programmatic ABS issuer, securitizing hundreds of millions in student loans — a key step in scaling its capital-light lending model. In parallel, it began expanding the financial product suite for its student base through a co-branded credit card and bank account partnership with Zolve.
