“Can a UK SMB invoice-finance lender become the embedded credit infrastructure layer powering B2B lending and Pay Later at the point of need across partner platforms?”
Founded in 2011 as the UK's first digital invoice finance company, MarketFinance initially focused on direct SMB lending through invoice finance and short-term business loans. Over the next decade the company expanded into term loans and flexible credit products. Around 2021-2022 it pivoted toward an embedded finance model, making its credit products available via API to third-party platforms so that SMEs could access funding within partner workflows ('single click' lending). The 2022 B2B Pay Later launch — backed by a £30m Viola credit facility — extended the model into multi-currency BNPL at B2B checkout, targeting cross-border trade between the UK, Europe, and North America.
