The story

Founded in 1947 as a flag carrier, Malaysia Airlines was restructured under Khazanah Nasional Berhad following the twin disasters of 2014 and rebranded as Malaysia Airlines Berhad under Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG). The airline has progressively built out an embedded finance layer — launching travel insurance (MHinsure), a prepaid multi-currency card (EnrichMoney), BNPL for flight bookings, and consolidated global payment infrastructure via Outpayce XPP. The group is now exploring capital markets instruments (perpetual bonds, sale-and-leaseback) to fund fleet renewal.
