The story

GambetDC was Washington D.C.'s exclusively licensed sportsbook, operated under the D.C. Office of Lottery and Gaming's contract with Intralot, a Greek gaming company that also powers D.C.'s lottery. The product struggled with poor user adoption, political controversies around subcontractors, and persistent criticism of its monopoly position. After years of underperformance, the OLG approved FanDuel as the new subcontractor in 2024, effectively shuttering GambetDC. Post-closure, the parent operator Intralot faced a false-claims investigation by the D.C. Attorney General.
